Don’t use too much shimmer or light reflecting makeup. Skin and makeup look best with a soft matte finish and yellow based foundations are the most natural.

Don’t do anything drastic the days before the wedding. Sunburns, burns from waxing, intense facials, and breakouts caused by using to many new products will all make your wedding makeup application a challenge.

Don’t choose a style of makeup that is too trendy or overdone. Your look should be classic and you want the groom to recognize you when you walk down the isle!

Come to your trial with some ideas about what you like. Pour back over your stacks of bridal mags and look at their faces. Do you like a classic red mouth and a light eye, or a smokey eye and softer lips? Rip out the looks that appeal to you and show them to your artist.

If you choose to do your own makeup, or you have to due to wedding location, have a lesson first. A one on one with an artist can be instrumental in teaching you the techniques you need for a perfect application. Bring your mom or maid of honor to your lesson so she can help you the day of your wedding.

Make the most of your trial. Plan it for a day when you have something to do, engagement photos are a great idea. That way you can see a preview of your makeup on film.
